Fancy Quiche!
Quiche is such a fun dish 🙂  It makes for a great meal or snack for breakfast, brunch, or even a 1 am escapade due to jet-lag!
I start with the following ingredients……
– Your favorite pie crust. This one was gluten-free, though I’d likely go for the regular version next time.
– 6 organic eggs
– A bit of organic milk or cream (optional if you are dairy-free)
Today I also used-
– 5 slices peppered turkey bacon
– 2/3 cup goat cheese crumbles
– 2/3 cup cherry tomatoes
– 1/3 cup olives
– 3/4 cup broccoli
And for flavoring I went with-
– Celtic sea salt
– Organic pepper
– Organic garlic powder
– Minced onion
– Organic sage
– Organic thyme
– Organic oregano
– Organic rosemary
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Poke the crust with a fork a few times- this prevents it from puffing up while in the oven 🙂
Go ahead and cook up the turkey bacon.
This variety, while fun and very tasty, crumbles very easily right in the pan. I went with it and continued the process, since that would need to occur anyways.
Mix up the eggs.
*Cooking tip* When the inevitable egg shell lands in with the eggs, use a fork to gently get it out. The shell generally attaches itself to the fork, and it’s the easiest way.*
Add a bit of milk or cream, then go ahead and add the spices. I used approximately 1 tsp each of sea salt, pepper, garlic powder, minced onion, sage, thyme, oregano and rosemary. I enjoy flavoring 🙂 Use whatever kind and amount you prefer. I added shredded parmesan as well at this point.
Rinse the tomatoes, and chop as needed.
I prefer to layer many of the ingredients right in the pie tin. This ensures even distribution, fun layering, and you can design it however you like 🙂 Today I started with the crumbled bacon…..
Followed by the crumbled goat’s cheese and tomatoes…..And olives 🙂
Cut up the broccoli if desired and layer that right on!
Go ahead and pour the egg mixture on top, and press down on any broccoli or other pieces that are not submerged or covered with the eggs…
Add any extra bacon or cheese on top 🙂
I would always recommend placing the quiche on some kind of a baking dish as you put it in the oven. Any spills are MUCH easier to clean this way, and it also creates a way to easily pull it back out when you are checking on it or it’s done 🙂
Bake approximately 40 min, or until the center is just “set”.
Delicious!! 🙂
Doesn’t last long, that’s for sure 🙂
